The hotel begins to be built in 1976 on the site of the 1st Benedictine Monastery of the Americas.

Maksoud Plaza opens in 1979 as a landmark of elegance, welcoming personalities from diplomacy and works of arts from around the world.

In August 1981, Frank Sinatra performed four nights at the Grande Salão Nobre, with enormous impact in the local press and in the social life of the city.

Maksoud Plaza was the only place where Frank Sinatra performed in São Paulo.

The iconic 150 Night Club, a night club and jazz club, officially opens.

The club is a great success and is happy to feature the biggest jazz and blues names: Bobby Short, Alberta Hunter, Etta James, Billy Eckstine and Buddy Guy, as well as major international acts like Julio Iglesias, Armando Manzareno, Paquito D´Rivera, Michel Legrand and Steve Ross.

At the end of the 1980's, the effervescence of haute cuisine started to become one of the hotel's main features. With four restaurants, Maksoud Plaza could cater for the most demanding tastes.

La Cuisine du Soleil, designed and inaugurated by then-world number 2 Chef Roger Vergé, as well as Arlanza Grill, are renowned for their refined ambience and quality of food. The Belavista Brasserie, with its 24-hour service, becomes famous for its breakfast.

Guns n'Roses lead singer Axl Rose throws a chair at journalists in the hotel lobby.

Throughout the 1990s, many celebrities stayed at the hotel, such as Omar Sharif, the eternal Dr. Zhivago; Catherine Deneuve, the French actress; and the irreverent Pedro Almodóvar. The hotel welcomes the prime minister of England, Margareth Thatcher.

In 1998, Kofi Annan, United Nations Secretary-General, stays at Maksoud Plaza. Globo TV's Brasil Legal show with Regina Casé presents behind the scenes and interviews with distinguished guests and hotel staff.
2000 - THE NEW CENTURY

The Skyline Lounge opens on the 22nd floor with 150 square meters and a magnificent view of the city. A new phase begins, focusing on corporate and social events and business tourism. Actor Anthony Quinn stays at the hotel.

In 2007, the play Emoções Que O Tempo Não Apaga – Uma Crônica Musical (Timeless Emotions - A Musical Chronicle) starts a run at Maksoud Plaza Theatre. The show, which tells the hotel's musical history, runs until 2012 with Dr. Henry Maksoud´s direction.
2010 - NEW MANAGEMENT

The hotel's helipad is expanded to receive up to 5-ton aircraft, with an exclusive lift on the platform.

In 2014, founder Dr. Henry Maksoud passes away. Henry Maksoud Neto takes over group control. He started working at the hotel at the age of 15, experimenting in all areas and learning all about hospitality as well as life while working with his grandfather.

In 2015, Panam Club opens at the hotel top, with a 360-degree view of the city of São Paulo.

Frank Bar opens in April 2015. Frank Bar is voted Best Bar of 2015 by Época São Paulo magazine and one of the 10 best bars opened in São Paulo in 2015 in the first edition of the Taste & Fly Award.

Maksoud Plaza and Accor form a partnership by which the French chain now offers the hotel on its worldwide booking channels. 150 Maksoud Restaurant introduces a menu with diverse dishes and Maksoud classics. The traditional Feijoadíssima is a big hit on Saturdays, with live chorinho. The hotel invites the fine artist Felipe Morozini to make the artistic installation “SuiteDreams # 2117”, a new hospitality experience.

Maksoud Plaza serves as the setting for GloboTV's Verdades Secretas series and soap opera Haja Coração. Maksoud Plaza diversifies forming partnerships with Basico.com store and Man Lab barber shop, both in the lobby, for the convenience of guests and other patrons.

In 2017, Frank Bar is re-elected Best Bar and Bar with Best Drink List by Folha de S.Paulo. It also wins Best Bartender: Spencer Amereno.
2020 - NOWADAYS

Maksoud Plaza's Christmas decoration wins the Cidade Iluminada Award in December 2019. The event is promoted by Business Land Marketing and is official in São Paulo.

In 2020, Maksoud Plaza implements the "Team Building", offering different types of training for the employees, prioritizing professional development and Customer Service.

The launch of “Pillow Menu” in all suites, developed for the comfort of guests.

Maksoud becomes a Dog Friendly hotel, welcoming canine friends with an adequate structure for the comfort of the dog and its owner.
